Liquor Board Stepping Up
Saturday, 08 August 2009 13:26

With the Liquor Board out in full force, PCL might not be the only bar in Scottsdale closing their doors for "remodeling". In recent days, bars such as Jackrabbit, American Junkie and Cream Stereo Lounge have been targeted. Pussycat Lounge, however, was just the first Scottsdale bar to be made an example of.

After being caught violating the Arizona Liquor Laws, PCL was forced to close their doors for a minimum of 30 days during which time they decided to remodel their interior.

This past Sunday American Junkie, same owners as PCL, was hit hard. Three Tempe 12 girls attending and participating in the bikini contest were ticketed for underage drinking. In order to save their own behinds, the girls told officers that they were forced to drink, while any patron would have told you just the opposite. Rumor has it they will be forced to close their doors for two weeks sometime in the near future

This past Thursday Jackrabbit was raided. Undercover officers escorted several underage females out of the club and proceeded to ticket them. Jackrabbit's neighbors, Cream Stereo Lounge, were raided a few Thursdays ago as well.

With all the recent problems, some have suggested that the bar owners themselves are narcing on eachother in order to gain an upper hand. However, that theory is highly unlikely. Although Scottsdale bars may battle for the best promotions, the actual bar owners form a very small community that work together to battle their common enemy - the Arizona Departement of Liquor Licenses and Control.

In reality, it is much more likely that Liquor Board is reminding the bars that they are still in control, especially with the school year starting soon. Remember, when the clock strikes 2, its not the Scottsdale bars that are kicking you out, its them.
